Olive, emerald, jade, juniper.
Sapphire, cerulean, indigo.
Hazel, bronze, sepia.
Even the words to describe the colors of the earth are subtly beautiful. But how do you even begin to describe something so stunning using mere words?
You can’t.
You experience it. What better reason to integrate all your senses to see, hear, feel, sense, savor, and ultimately be rivetted in awe?
My name is Kelly Vazquez. I am a nurse practitioner and wanderer. I love people, science, and the pull of the outdoors. With that love, arises the need for exploration and learning and from that, the pull of everything else.
It’s hard to be human. There is so much wrong in our world. The stressors of everyday life are overwhelming. We are suffering, but so is the earth. This is our only home, and we must safeguard it as if our very lives depend on it (spoiler alert - they do!)
My other love: writing. It is the one thing that compels, surrounds, and overwhelms my senses everyday (other than the anxieties of being human!)
That is the purpose of this blog- an attempt to write about the earth and those who inhabit it, endure it, love it - those very experiences that are so difficult to put into words.
This is my love letter to you and the earth.
Now, enough about me. Let’s talk about you :)
